You, the student, must be the one to write the essay. As your coach, I will provide inspiration, encouragement, guidance, and editing. We can talk about your ideas before you sit down to write, but I won’t give you notes until you have completed the first draft in its entirety. I cannot know what you intend to say until you have said it! And then the fun begins. Because your every word, phrase, sentence, and paragraph will be of interest to me. I will ask lots of questions, and together we will get to the heart of your story and shape it into something beautiful.

Regarding AI, you should not use it to generate content, which would be unethical and bizarre. Even as a tool for brainstorming and outlining, I am unimpressed with it, and I disapprove of its use. At any stage of writing, it will limit you. And it will make you sound more like everyone else, which is not the way to go with your college admissions essay. It is my job and my privilege to help you tell your own story in your own voice.
